Modern day humanity fighting a desperate war of survival against dragons... If that "Reign of Fire" film didn't balls that premise up, the idea would be quite epic.

The biology of the dragons alone made me want to tear my hair out.

Only ONE male dragon? Seriously?! A worldwide species DOES NOT WORK THAT WAY!

Not to mention all the implications of inbreeding which would be so detrimental to their survival that it's not even funny...

And the corresponding WASTED genes, in the females that just live too far away from the male's nest to come and mate.

There's so many biological inaccuracies here it's staggering. Couldn't they have made them Parthenogenic? I know they needed a reason for the Dragons to be defeated, but it would make SO much more sense.

And been a more precient threat--"these things don't even need to mate like humans do. Whenever conditions are optimal, they...not REproduce; just PRODUCE young. If we don't find a way to wipe them out....they'll just crowd humanity out and into extinction."

[Not scientifically accurate description, but close enough in a Hollywood/Dramatic sense. :P]

And maybe the way they beat them is with a virus that sabotages their re-production process and ultimately drives them to extinction?

That works! And with the military resistance, it's a one-two punch. :)

Don't get me started on the feeding on ashes part, or the square-cube law...
